Classification of organisms

-Biological scientists have worked to classify organisms in a way that would help clarify relationships among species through time and across different and constantly changing environments.  In trying to delineate the order of the community of living things on earth, they have faced a mind-numbingly extensive and intricate endeavor.  Some estimate that 5 to 40 million living species, with a combined dry, or water-free, weight of roughly two trillion tons, populate earth’s lands and waters.  So far, the scientists have managed to classify and name some 1.6 million species, including approximately 300,000 plants, more than a million animals (mostly insects) and several hundred thousand other species.  They still have somewhere between three or four million up to 38 or 39 million species to classify and name.
-Autotrophic animals such as plant create there own food through photosynthesis for example, and heterotrophic animals such as dogs cats, humans, etc. have to go out on their own and find food
-producers produce their own food, so they don't have to rely on outside sources for food, they get it from themselves. Ex, trees, plants, seaweed. Consumers cannot create their own food so they must ingest food from outside sources. Ex, humans, birds, fish, etc.
-Heterotrophs\consumers obtain their energy by consuming other organism
-Predators are wild animals that hunt, or prey on, other animals. All animals need food to live. These animals need the flesh of the animals that they kill to survive. A prey is an animal that is hunted and killed by another for food
  • Herbivores eat only plants egs cows, buffalo, etc.
  • Omnivores eat both plants and animals ex:baboons, rats, cockroaches, people, etc.
  • Carnivores eat only animals ex: cat family (wild cats, lions, leopard, tigers, domestic cats, etc.) and dog family (wolves, foxes, jackals, wild dogs).
  • Decomposers are microorganisms which convert complex substances and compounds into simper substances and return the simplified gases to the atmosphere and the rest organic matter to the earth, thus increasing its fertility. Therefore they clean the earth of all its waste.
  • Detritivores are organisms which consume the dead and decaying matter, digest them into simper substances and then excreting them as organic matter into the soil thus increasing its fertility egs earthworms, millipedes, centipedes 'detritus' mean 'decaying'.
-Decomposers are heterotrophic, meaning, they get their energy by eating dead animals and plants
